How to Generate Foreign Rights Sales for Your Books 

Over the years I have negotiated over 111 book deals with foreign publishers without using a North American foreign rights agent. (My books have now been published in 29 countries in 22 languages as a result of my efforts in selling foreign book rights.) These book deals have earned me around $150,000 in extra income. I have my own creative ways for marketing foreign rights and am often asked how I have become so successful at this. I do not want to spend much of my own time sharing my methods.

Nonetheless, I can share this with authors who want to sell the foreign rights to their books. Recently I was doing some research and came across this very interesting article, How to Sell $40,000 in Foreign Rights, in which John Kremer interviews John Penberthy on how John sold $40,000 worth of foreign rights. There is also some useful information in the following Huffington Post article, Foreign Rights: How Authors Tap a Rich Vein of Royalties, by Karen Dionne, particularly which are the best markets.
